Aix-en-Provence, Musée Granet

This retrospective of the work of Belgian artist Pierre Alechinsky is composed of nearly 170 paintings, drawings, engravings, ceramics and books produced in the South of France. Displayed in eight exhibition rooms and spread over an area of 600 m2 in the Musée Granet, the works of Alechinsky come in different forms and techniques: oil on canvas, acrylic paintings, ink murals, prints from “pieces of urban furniture”, sheets of enamelled lava, stoneware and porcelain, sketch books, drawings and watercolours.

Alechinsky’s views of Provence deepen as visitors walk through the exhibition rooms.
This show therefore emphasizes the importance of the region for Alechinsky, who has lived in France since 1951 and continues to be inspired by the country’s southern landscape.
