Guggenheim Museum Bilbao

Having already passed by Beijing, Shanghai and Moscow, "Art in the USA" debuts in Europe as the largest exhibition of North American art ever displayed on the continent, in celebration of the Guggenheim Bilbao's ten-year anniversary.

For its arrival in Europe, the exhibition incorporates seventy-five more pieces on loan, for a total presentation of two hundred works, mostly paintings. Co–organized by the Guggenheim Foundation and the Terra Foundation for American Art, six sections correspond to six phases in history, organized as a cultural narrative encompassing the North American experience, its myths, dreams, difficulties and vulnerabilities: Colonization and Rebellion, Expansion and Fragmentation, Cosmopolitanism and Nationalism, Modernity and Regionalism, Prosperity and Disenchantment and last, Multiculturalism and Globalization.

Tracing the complex spirit of identity and innovation that characterizes American history and its cultural communicators, "Art in the USA" is an artistic dialogue not to miss.
