The themes of time and indeterminacy are inseparable from the
work of this living, changing artist, whose works are in a constant
state of flux. Influenced by the Tao and by the notion of time as
water, along with influence from artists such as her mentor John
Cage, Bradshaw is shown here at the Ressle Fine Art gallery
through a series of productions started in 1984 that question the
way works of art respond to atmospheric changes. Here, artworks
are not necessarily mastered pieces that are the creator's
immutable products. The 1996 'Waterstone,' for instance, has
been evolving for nearly 11 years. Along with the theme of
change, Bradshaw's work also highlights the yin and yang that are
inseparable in the elements. Water, an elemental oxymoron, is
both hard and soft, for as the Tao notes, "Nothing under heaven is
softer or more yielding than water...but when it attacks things hard
and resistant, there is not one of them that can prevail." This too
can apply to Bradshaw's supple, trenchant work.
