FIAC: Foire Internationale d'Art Contemporain
Grand Palais, Cour Carré du Louvre, Jardin des Tuileries
This year marks the 34th edition of Paris's annual contemporary art fair, a major event that transforms three key locales into a whirlwind of art and design. Along with a spate of top-tier works at the Grand Palais, this year's FIAC aims to showcase an important design sector, also to be found at the Grand Palais. Emerging artists and contemporary creation will hold center stage at the Cour Carré of the Louvre, with some twenty-one new exhibitors hailing from places as diverse as Copenhagen, Shanghai and Mexico City. And the third wing of this diverse, vital fair will be outdoor exhibitions in the Jardin des Tuileries, with a selection of fifteen installations in those airy surroundings. To accompany this outpouring of creation will be held a series of talks in partnership with the Jeu de Paume museum, "Collecting Movement," which will center on the issues raised by collecting works in media such as film and photography, the perfect counterpart to understanding the workings of part of what is going on in today's art world.
