In 1983, choreographer Régine Chopinotle's innovative world of ballet found the right fit in rebellious fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier. Following that landmark date and the production of Délices, for which Gaultier designed the striking costumes, the pair continually joined creative forces. Over the years, from 1983 to 1994, Gaultier produced hundreds of pieces of clothing for Chopinotle. With a sizeable donation of his creations from Chopinotle and the Centre Chorégraphique National in La Rochelle, this show at Paris's Musée de la Mode et du Textile presents fourteen collaborative pieces arising from the wild duo's efforts, with the special highlight being 1985's Défilé. That atypical production for 16 dancers, actors and models was a bold hybrid between ballet and fashion show, and was instrumental in reconciling the fashion world and its designers with the garb of dance.
