Paris, Galerie Daniel Templon

After several important retrospectives in 2009, notably at Paris’s Bibliothèque Nationale de France and the Maison Hermès in Tokyo, the French Algerian-born artist Jean-Michel Alberola exhibits his work at his Parisian representative Galerie Daniel Templon.

The exhibition includes a collection of his paintings, works on paper, neons and murals. In the early 1980s, he was particularly celebrated for his free take on figurative representation and his experimentation with abstraction, altogether with Duchamp-like undertones.

The next major project from the artist will be a video that documents the four seasons in a small Japanese village; it is filmed in partnership with French avant-garde television channel, Arte, and is slated to broadcast this year in 2010.
