John Armleder: Jacques Garcia
Paris, Centre Culturel Suisse

The Swiss artist John M. Armleder is known for his eclecticism. And the title of his enthusiastically awaited London show alludes to his multiple ways of making art. It is a festive riot, which introduces a full-scale installation of his works into the gallery. His sparkling "Drip and Pour" paintings and regularly patterned canvases are juxtaposed onto his wall paintings of dots, acorns, insects, cocktails and crossbones. His signature furniture sculptures are balanced against the colorful paintings and are positioned in various places throughout the space.

Armleder, who has played a critical role in shaping postmodern art practices over the last 40 years, has been extremely busy these last 12 months. In addition to his London show, he has another exhibition at the Centre Culturel Suisse in Paris. For this equally invigorating but very different show, he asked the French interior designer Jacques Garcia to conceive a neo-bourgeois apartment, which is consistent with Armleder's interest in the principle of delegating.
