Galerie Maeght, Paris

Marco Del Re is, firstly, a painter who has been exposing at Galerie Maeght since 1988 yet he is also a multi-faceted artist having taken on the role of architect, printmaker, and now sculptor and designer. Galerie Maeght exhibits, for the first time, his bronze sculptures – a natural extension to his overarching attraction to form and volume. They are accompanied by a series of paintings created between 2006 and 2007 in his Paris studio.

Marco Del Re was born in Rome and was a young student in architecture; he has since realized much of his career in Paris. Fragments of memory and imagination, his works carry a rather personal mix of motifs, contrasting the grandeur of the Italian countryside with the intimate space of his atelier. His work stands between classical tradition and modern painting, and always finding its inspiration from literature and mythology. His sculptural works are a new path for experimentation.
