A key foundation course in understanding the genre of fashion photography, MODE:BILDER assembles over 400 photographs from 100 different photographers, a representive extract of essential images from the collection of F.C Gundlach. A visual overview of fashion photography from 1843 to 2006, the exhibtion is founded on the thesis that fashion photography has significantly greater aesthetic value than a direct commericialization and representation of seasonal clothing.

The best test is a view of fashion photography's evolution and its ability to reflect non-verbally the social consciousness and cultural spirit of its generation. Featuring rare photographs from Robert Adamson, an early photogrpaher from 1843 who was one of the first to use models, to pre-war fashion images and Richard Avedon, then forward to more modern style of eccentricity and explicit storytelling, fashion photography is surely a means of a larger form of expression.
