Saint-Paul, Galerie Catherine Issert

Broccolichi is one of the more interesting artists working today in the intersection between science and art, though unfortunately he has received little international media attention relative to the original creativity of his work. Based in the south of France, Broccolichi explores, aesthetically, the media of sound with a multidisciplinary approach to the physics of silence, background noise, sounds waves and the material used in sound transmission.

Within the exhibition space, he manages the laws of acoustics, sometimes using diverse tools such as sound wave-generating machines and software used normally in architectural design. He creates an aural landscape, a complex factory of sound, and expresses it visually and sculpturally. He engages the viewer’s sense of hearing, a sense that has garnered greater privilege in contemporary multimedia art, and is given comprehensive, intelligent and dynamic exploration in the work of Pascal Broccolichi.
