This month-long multimedia festival spans forms and continents to bring a world of art to different venues in Rome. Dance, theater, performance art, music from classical to jazz, from cutting edge to folk, and artists from across the globe, hailing from locales as eclectic as Phnom Penh and Antwerp, by way of Paris, London and New York. What this bright buzz of artistic action and movement hopes to communicate with its wide-cast net is the notion that art is not curbed by borders, whether geographic or formal. Modern technologies mesh with the most basic and natural of artifacts, the human body, showing that while artists must look to the latest technologies to express their creativity, they can never forget their roots. Similarly, the festival adheres to its own roots, letting no stream or school predominate, letting art flourish unhampered, while still showing that creativity has a tricky position within the modern world. A tall task for such an enjoyable, eclectic set of shows.
