Barbican Art Gallery

With the first exhibition in the United Kingdom devoted to this dynamic Dutch duo, 15 years of playful irony and avant-garde surrealism come to the Barbican Centre.

Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren met at the Academy of Art, Arnhem in 1992. They augured the trajectory of their successes in one of their early productions in 1996, "Launch," a "dreams in miniature" collection that represented their ambitions as a child's game – a catwalk with dolls, a fashion shoot, even a store window with a fake perfume and accompanying ad campaign. Selections from this are on view, as well as other signature moments in their career, such as their first ready-to-wear collection based on the American flag and their bold play with necklines and performance art in the 1999-2000 "Russian Doll." The exhibition dominates both floors of the gallery, charting a lively and hopefully enduring collaboration.
