CITY GUIDE / NEW YORK / HOTELS / MONDRIAN SOHO

The first New York outpost of the famous Mondrian Hotel – joining properties in Los Angeles and South Beach – has opened in SoHo. Designed by Benjamin Noriega-Oritz, in collaboration with Morgans Hotels in-house creative team, the Mondrian SoHo has a French touch in its look, with the inspiration said to be Jean Cocteau’s 1946 film “La Belle et la Bete”. Though Mondrian regulars will recognize the oversized cottage swing that hangs in the sustainable seafood restaurant and will feel right at home in the rooms and suites with 10-foot ceilings.
