The in-house café delivers delicious low-fat food (such as wild salmon with baby spinach) prepared by chef Elizabeth Mendez. Produce comes from the farmers' market and all the dishes are good for the skin!

The Peninsula's rooftop spa offers delicious treaments, a 60-foot lap pool, private cabanas and a relaxation space overlooking the Hollywood Hills. The Shiffa Precious Gems Treatment contain ruby, emerald, sapphire and diamond components that are believed to hold healing powers. For guys there's a full menu of body care services including the Men's Foot Recovery pedicure and manicure, the Gentlemen's Facial Rejuvenation, the Rub Down and the Men's All-Over Body Stress Reducer.

The Beverly Hotel Spa by La Prairie

This 1916-square-foot spa has six treatment rooms including one couples' suite, private cabanas on the upper level above the pool, steam rooms, saunas and state-of-the-art beautifying innovations, including a hydrotherapy tub with seven hydro-massage zones. Located on the third floor of this Upper East Side icon, the bi-level space was designed by Mark Zeff, who made lavish use of rare materials in keeping with the hotel's hushed atmosphere. A spectacular vaulted stairwell that shimmers in light reflected from walls of platinum mosaic tiles leads to treatment rooms and lounges decked out in Carrara marble and exotic woods. Needless to say, the Sisley treatments are said to rival the interior in their extravagance.

With outposts in Tuscan, Arizona and Lennox, Massachusetts, Canyon Ranch has a stellar reputation in the world of spas, well known for its pioneering attitude towards health and wellness. Its latest project is Canyon Ranch Miami Beach, a boutique spa hotel with a prime oceanfront position. The location and sumptuous Rockwell Group-designed interiors would make most feel better instantly, but Canyon Ranch is dedicated to elevating the spirit even further. Spa junkies take note: the spa at The Dorchester Hotel, London, has just reopened after a GBP 3.2million overhaul by award-winning designers Fox Linton Associates. Nine treatment rooms, a manicure and pedicure suite and a deep relaxation room are all inspired by the glamour and elegance of the 1930s, with Art Deco screens and chandeliers dotted throughout. Make a day of it and order from the special “Spatisserie” menu of low calorie, health-focused meals.

Anne Fontaine Spa

Tucked away in the basement of Anne Fontaine’s Paris flagship, the Anne Fontaine Spa is a haven of tranquillity at the heart of the city’s fashion district. Andrée Putman designed the sophisticated space that uses natural materials and textures inspired by Fontaine’s famously crisp women’s shirts.
