It’s a classic combination, a byword for cool and is always in style. And once again, black and white looks were some of the strongest of the spring summer collections, which have already dropped at the world’s leading fashion boutiques. With waiting lists in operation for the most coveted pieces, fashionistas need to act fast to secure the key looks. So, while the weather might still call for Fendi earmuffs, we present our all black and white capsule wardrobe for the upcoming season.

Starting in Singapore, where the weather is always balmy. What to wear to the city’s leading art fair, ArtStage, which takes place January 16 to 19? Think Dries Van Noten’s Victoriana blouses, the oh-so-chic little white dresses at Balenciaga and the signature relaxed tailoring of Haider Ackermann. Finish the look with Saint Laurent’s leopard print pumps, Dior’s snakeskin flat sandals and one of the investments of the season - Louis Vuitton’s classic shoulder bags.

Awards season has already begun in LA, culminating on March 2 with the Oscars. Our favourite red carpet looks: Alexandre Vauthier’s masterful gowns that were all about revealing a sexy back, Fendi’s ladylike dresses with sheer skirts and Dolce & Gabbana’s perforated eveningwear accessorised with major gold jewelry. Add a rock ‘n roll edge with Saint Laurent’s pointed toe booties or heavy chain link collar.

At the opposite end of the fashion spectrum, casual weekend wear comes in the form of Guiseppe Zanotti’s tuxedo flats, the perforated Marni Rush bag and the shoe of the season – Balenciaga’s chunky sandal with espadrille sole.

Finally, when summer is in full swing, take off to Formentera or Patmos – or the new Maldives outpost of Bernard Arnault’s Cheval Blanc hotel – in Ralph Lauren’s sporty chic looks. We love its black and white geometric print that could be seen on a matching dress, bag and sunglasses. Add wherever you are, don’t leave home without Burberry Prorsum’s sleek all-white sunglasses.
