What: A splendid Relais & Châteaux outpost that for over 20 years has been luring visitors with its celebrated restaurant and its luxurious European-inspired guesthouse.

Where: Surrounded by olive trees, the Auberge is perched on a hillside overlooking beautiful vineyards in the Napa Valley, California.

Why: It's not just the name that sounds French-inspired, a fascination with and an adoration of Provence are said to have been the culminating reasons behind the creation of the Auberge. Mediterranean cuisine in the restaurant, the location amongst vineyards, and the colorful and custom-designed furniture that graces the interior all hint at how the owner, Claude Rouas, a restaurateur from San Francisco, had envisioned his ultimate guesthouse. All of the rooms and suites have balconies, some of which overlook the Napa Valley while others contain garden balconies that afford utter privacy. Interiors are bright and airy and feature Italian linens, along with all modern conveniences. The on-site spa offers treatments with locally found ingredients, such as grape seed massages, olive leaf body exfoliation or the celebrated Napa Valley sacred stone massage.
