Designer Hotel

casadelmar

What: A thoroughly modern hotel that manages to fuse it’s wholly contemporary vibe with what was always thought of as a traditionally rustic island.

Where: Positioned beautifully on the South-East coast of the French island of Corsica, the small hotel overlooks the gulf of Porto-Vecchio.

Why: Having already celebrated its third birthday, this hotel shows none of the signs of aeging that so often happens with contemporarily designed hotels. Casadelmar, with its ultra-stylish architecture designed by Jean-François Bodin, has very much put itself on the map for design afficionados. So much so, that it has been taken under the family wing by Design Hotels. Super-exclusive, the hotel only has 20 rooms. Don’t let the small size fool you however, the bedrooms are uber-stylish, the lobby features magnificent design furniture by Corbusier and the hotel even has its own Michelin star restaurant. In the spa watch the world go by while laying on a black massage table that has views of the gulf. For those who prefer to do the minimum and the small jaunt to the beach is too much to handle, the pool is the perfect place to take it easy. Oh and the best part of it all? Due to Corsicas mild-temperate climate, you can come back any time of year that you want.
