What:

Affordable luxury accommodation in both the heart of Amsterdam and at its airport (there is also a Citizen M outpost in Glasgow, Scotland). A new hotel brand, Citizen M has quickly made its mark with self-service check in, hotel lobbies that looks like living rooms, and high design throughout.

Where:

In Amsterdam, they have two locations: in the center of the city (perfect for city breaks) and overlooking the airport (the best stopover hotel we’ve seen).

Why:

Citizen M hotels aim to redefine luxury. There are no hidden costs here, everything is included, from the free movie channels to the wi-fi. Even international phone calls are charged at cheap rates. Each room boats rain showers and carefully chosen pieces of design courtesy of Concrete, the award winning creative agency. A specially design “mood pad” by Philips controls the TV, blinds, temperature, coloured lighting and wake up alarms. Outside of the guest rooms, the lobby is designed to promote social interaction, canteenM is a restaurant with fresh fast food, Italian coffee and beer from The Netherlands. Frequent flyers will be impressed.
