What: A modern chic retreat for urban style mavens.

Where: Where else but the city's golden triangle, just a few well-heeled steps away from the city's best boutiques.

Why: Designer Frédéric Mechiche's 26-room townhouse is an object lesson in chromatic chic (and the alphabet – each room is represented by a letter). The abstract expressionist works of Fabrice Hybert, Mechiche's collaborator, vivify the suitably stylish neutral surroundings, while the ambient elevator, which changes a different color on each of the four floors, offers an innovative injection of color. No wonder it has become the hangout of choice for visiting fashionistas during fashion weeks.
