To celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, pioneering chef Heston Blumenthal has concocted the Royal Trifle for Waitrose. But instead of the traditional ingredients of custard, jelly and sherry, the trailblazer has replaced them with cream infused with saffron, a base of strawberry compote, and a layer of crumbled Amaretti biscuits soaked in Marc de Champagne, a strong brandy. Priced at just £13.99, stocks are selling out.
